Why Ultra Instinct Cannot Be Used With Super Saiyan Blue – Explained

Hey, fans of Dragon Ball! Today, I’m going to be talking about Ultra Instinct. First of all let us talk about Ultra Instinct, and what it actually is. Goku was able to achieve a new form in Dragon Ball Super Episode 110, and this was being teased for about 3 months now, just like his fight with Jiren. Goku had to face a foe that was actually stronger than a God of Destruction, and the strongest fighter in the entire tournament.

Naturally, his regular power was not even close to matching Jiren. You need to have huge power in order to take down someone of that power level. Goku’s max power, that is, Kaio-ken x20 along with Super Saiyan Blue was pretty much useless.

But, the Spirit Bomb that Goku created triggered his new form. Ultra Instinct is a power that allows some to react to incoming threats without having to think about it. It was first mentioned in the series by Whis. Whis taught it to Beerus at first, who seems to have a hang of this technique, but he mastered it completely. Later, Whis taught it to Goku and Vegeta.

While neither of them were able to grasp it at first, Goku seems to have learned this ability completely now. When you look at Goku’s previous transformations, he has always been able to use Super Saiyan along with it. Naturally, one would think after unlocking Ultra Instinct, Goku will stack it along with Super Saiyan God or Super Saiyan Blue. But, I don’t think that’s going to be the case at all.

What do the transformations actually allow Goku to do? If you look at it, all they do is allow Goku to access more Ki, but at the same time the amount of Ki drain is significant. When you look at Super Saiyan 2, it is a very powerful form, possibly the best “Super Saiyan” transformation. While Super Saiyan 3 grants more power, it drains Ki at a high rate. Same is the case with Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue.

While the Ki control in those forms is a lot better, they still drain Ki. Meanwhile, Ultra Instinct allows Goku to maintain his Ki, and without undergoing any transformation, he can access 100% of his power, because he has actually broken all his limits. So, Goku cannot use Super Saiyan forms with Ultra Instinct. If he does, he’ll be draining his Ki at a very fast pace, and that will basically make the form useless.

Do you think Super Saiyan Blue can be used with Ultra Instinct? Let me know in the comments section below.
